At Faith & Grief, we collaborate with local organizations such as churches and healthcare facilities to train their volunteers to provide grief support programs in their community. We offer two grief support curricula: the Faith & Grief Support Gathering and the Faith & Grief Workshop.
Our Faith & Grief support gatherings offer fellowship over a meal, accompanied by a brief reflection on the intersection of faith and grief. Meeting monthly, participants sit at tables where a facilitator guides a discussion on grief-related topics, and participants are encouraged to share their experiences. The grief support gatherings are open to all grieving people at no cost, and some meet online.
Our Faith & Grief Workshop curriculum is led by certified grief educators and is a supportive environment for those who are grieving the death of a loved one. This multi-session workshop offers participants the opportunity to explore sacred grief-related stories, share their stories in small groups, and be introduced to spiritual practices to promote comfort in grief. These workshops are hosted locally, in person and online.
We also offer the Faith & Grief Workshop in a retreat format. We have facilitated retreats at Mo-Ranch & Montreat. The retreats are designed to accommodate the various types of grief, regardless of where someone is on their grief journey; we offer encouragement to participants and, most importantly, a space to be heard. Participants may explore sacred stories of grief, learn more about the nature and dynamics of grief, engage in small-group discussions, and participate in spiritual practices designed to promote comfort.
